Is a plaquenil exam medical or vision insurance

At ECVA we offer comprehensive vision and medical examinations. If your appointment is with one of our Optometrists (OD) for a routine or annual vision exam, ECVA will submit a claim to your vision plan.

The difference between this and health insurance is that health insurance generally covers only eye care in relation to a medical condition. For instance, if you need an eye exam because of cataracts, dry eyes, complications from diabetes, or in relation to diagnosed high blood pressure, then your health insurance will usually cover the eye care. Your medical insurance may cover a medical eye problem, but not pay for the exam if it is a "routine" eye exam. If you have a medical problem eye infection, corneal disorders, diabetes, cataracts, glaucoma suspect, dry eye, double vision, etc. your visit is considered a medical problem and can be billed to your medical plan. The fees for an exam that is medical in nature are set by following the Medicare insurance fee schedule for a medical eye exam and these fees are significantly higher than for a vision exam due to increased complexity in diagnosis and medical management and treatment of medical eye issues. Vision exams do not include or involve ANY medical.

If you request ONLY a routine or annual vision exam, your appointment will be scheduled or rescheduled with one of our Optometrists (OD). Note, your medical insurance may contain a vision "rider." If your appointment is with one of our Ophthalmologists (MD) ECVA will submit a claim to your medical insurance or health plan.

Itching From Plaquenil DailyStrength Hi, I started taking Plaquenil on June 24th and for the last four or 5 days have had horrible itching. No rash just all over itching. My Rhuemy told me to stop taking it until all itching symptoms were gone, then wait another week and start up again with 1 pill 200mg a day instead of 2 pills.
